"Shark Skin" Bottoms

Test Prototype   Artificial Shark Skin outsoles   No inside shoe markings
As I remember, this was a prototype of an artificial shark skin outsole. I tried them out on an artificial track surface. The idea was to get the needed traction without using the conventional metal spikes.

Free Cross Trainer

Free Cross Train (a relatively early version)   Made in Taiwan
Cross Trainers were designed to be a single workout shoe that you could put in a suitcase. You could run in them, work out in the gym, and probably play basketball or tennis.

I didn't Cross Train so they got very little usage. I wasn't a fan of the strap for the activity that I did.

Shoes for DNA

My first ever pair of track spikes!
I cleaned out the closet. It was time to do something with my old shoes.

I doubt that my children will cherish these once I am gone so I decided to donate them to DNA (Department of Nike Archives).

Rick Lower said the story of the shoes is just as important (if not MORE important) than the shoes so I will write up what I can remember.

Each day (November 2-21) will feature a shoe or artifact and what I know about it.

Rome to Portland

We woke up at 3am and walked from the Rome Hilton Hotel to Terminal #1.

We left Rome at 6:30am and then left Amsterdam at 9:50am.  We arrived back in Portland early, about 10:00am, the same day.  Then we found ways to stay awake to watch the 7:30pm Cal vs Oregon football game.

40 Year Feng Tay / Nike Partnership

I posted an 8-minute video on YouTube from the 40-year celebration of the Feng Tay / Nike Partnership. I think the video does a great job of showing the importance and value of the two companies working together. Feng Tay was a small factory in Taiwan in 1977 when Phil Knight and C.H. Wang signed the first Supply Agreement.
