Early hand-make spikes Uppers made in Japan Shoes assembled in Oregon About 1974 |
For years I thought Bowerman made these spikes.
These have been in my closet for over 40 years. In college I wanted to race in them, especially because they were yellow and green, but they were too clunky and heavy. I think I might have worn them in one indoor race. I did try them out on the track and not too fond of them. I kept them because they seemed special.
Former teammate Gary Brougher commented: "I think the yellow Nikes are the first pairs that were made in the basement of Mac Court. There was only 200 of those ever made if I recall correctly."
